October 10 - October 12, 2008
Unto the populace of the Known World, greetings from the Shire
of
Eisental. It is with glad hearts that we invite one and all
to our
first University for the arts of “modern warfare”
in the 15th and 16th
Centuries. This Academy will focus on gunnery for both
artillery and
arquebus, as well as pike and pole arm drill and formations.
Other
classes offered will include period cooking, herbalism, period garb,
and thrown weapons. There will also be a competition for
period
encampment.
An afternoon-long repast will be offered to all who attend.
We would
invite all folk with strong interests in late-period camping and
warfare to join us for the weekend, set amidst the beauty of foliage in
the fall.
At our Gunnery event we will also be setting up in our main hall an Arts & Sciences display, which we encourage all to participate in as they are inclined. We would like to see completed works and works-in-progress in various disciplines, including but not limited to gunnery, combat, and camp life. Works-in-progress should mention or illustrate the entrant's vision for the completed project somewhere in the accompanying documentation. Registration for the display will begin at 10 AM on Saturday in the main hall, and the display will remain open until dayboard closes around five. Members of the populace may bring tokens if they wish to express their appreciation for entries in the display. For questions pertaining to the display, contact Nafisa Hatun bint Abdullah (Jennifer Oaks) by email at onewringgold@netzero.com or by phone at 570-943-2835.
