LANDSKNECHT MUSTERUNG IV

June 19-21, 1998

Like the wars that ravaged Europe, the Landsknechts have returned once again. The Shire of Eisental and Der Sonnen Von Krieg invite everyone to enjoy a weekend of irreverent fun and mayhem at the Ukrainian Homestead, R.D. #2, Lehighton, PA, 18235. This gathering of Landsknechts will include a 3-man great-weapons-only tournament which emphasizes weapons of the period, the standard double-elimination tourney (weapons of choice), and a bearpit. If you've seen it in years past, you already know it's a lot of fun.

Also featured will be a Brewer's Conference, Arts & Sciences competition, and a competition of period codpieces, scheduled children's activities, at least one period play, and archery activities. As always merchants are most welcome to ply their wares and should include request for space with their reservation. Questions about merchanting should be directed to Lord Matsuyamaji no Mokurai, (610) 798-7332.

There is a swimming pool on site (we promise it will be open this year!), but no lifeguard on duty, so swimming will be at your own risk, and minors (under 18) MUST be accompanied by an adult. A barracks with open dormitory-style housing will be available for those without tents. Period pavilions will be given special consideration for space by the list-field if desired.

Classes will be offered in: Landsknecht garb, German camp cooking (open fire), artillery and small arms of the period by Der Sonnen Von Krieg, our own little crew of Germans, battle strategy and tactics, and pike drill by Das Teuffels AlpDrucken Fahnlein, our kamerades from Maryland. Questions about classes should be directed to Lady Anne Liese Wolkenhaar, (610) 798-7332.

We will also be running a herald's consulting table for those interested in registering a name and arms.

The site opens at 3:00 PM Friday, and closes at 3:00 PM Sunday. A buffet breakfast for Friday's arrivals and a lunch sideboard will be provided, with a hot breakfast Sunday morning, in addition to the feast prepared by Eisenthal's own Selene Vereneau. The feast is limited to 125 gentles, and all alcohol consumed in the hall must be purchased from the bar on site.

The costs for this weekend are: on-board, 2 nights, $20; 1 night or day-trip, $12; off-board 2 nights, $14; 1 night or day trip, $8; children 7-14 are half-price, under 6 free, and family rates are available. Confirmations will include an event schedule, tournament and competition guidelines, and children's activities. Please make checks payable to 'SCA - Shire of Eisental' and mail them with a SASE to our Shire's Exchequer, Astrid Olafsdottir (Alis Bajan), 260 Liberty St., Nazareth, PA 18064.

Motel rooms are available on-site, and must be reserved by June 7. Prices are as follows:
