Royal Progress
Southern Region War Camp will be held in the Shire of Eisenthal during the weekend of July 26-28 at the Ukranian Homestead (RD#2 Lehighton, PA 18235). Site opens at 4:00 pm on Friday and will close at 3:00 pm on Sunday. Included will be space for field, woods & bridge battles, as well as archery and fencing.As for those that don't participate in the martial activities, merchants are most welcome, and there is a pool (no lifeguard & all minors (those under 18) must be accompanied by an adult) on site. Children's activities are being planned and there is a natural playground on site to allow them to run and play.
After the martial appetite has been gorged, there will be showers available in the barracks, TRM Bjorn & Morgen will hold court, and all may participate in the beverage of their choice. The site is wet.
Camping space will be available, as will a couple of barracks (one male and one female) for those that prefer not to set up a campsite. Also, there is a motel on site that will be available for rent at an additional fee, but the rooms are limited and are on a first come & paid basis. Fees are $5.00 per person (children under 6 free), no matter when you arrive or how long you stay. This will include a simple dayboard on Saturday. No feast will be offered, but there are a variety of places within driving distance from the site. DIRECTIONS:
From PA Turnpike, NE Extension, take exit 34 (Mahoning Valley) to Rt 209 South, towards Jim Thorpe. At 2nd light (Caruso's Restaurant), 209 South makes a Right turn. From this light, continue for 2.1 miles and make a Left turn at the sign for "Flagstaff." Follow this road (Beaver Dr.) for 1.7 miles, Ukrainian Homestead will be on your Left.
From I-81: Take exit 37 (Hometown/Mahanoy City) onto Rt 54 East, through Hometown to Nesquehoning. At the Monument landmark, bear Left and continue on Rt 209 North 4.9 miles to Jim Thorpe. At the 2nd light, make a Left and continue on Rt 209 North for 1.6 miles and turn Right at the top of the mountain (at the Mountainside Family Restaurant). At the stop sign, go straight for 1.3 miles and the Ukranian Homestead will be on your Left. Signs will be posted.
