East Kingdom War Camp 2001
Heed the words of our Warlord, war is nearly upon us! To help all make
ready, The Shire of Eisental would host East Kingdom War Camp on
July 27-28, 2001 at the
Ukranian Homestead
To hone our defenses the fighting will take the form of battle scenarios including combat archery. Our Warlord and Earl Marshal shall see that we are all prepared for the battles ahead. Baron Soiichiro will be conducting classes and authorizations to swell the ranks of combat archers. We will also be set up to practice the various archery shoots for Pennsic. An area will be set aside for fencers who wish to make ready for the Pennsic Tournaments. Youth Combat practice and authorizations will be held in the afternoon. All this and merchants too!
Food: A simple day board will be offered on Saturday afternoon. NO feast will be offered. There are restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute drive from the site. As for Sunday morning, we will be offering a fund raising breakfast for all. Donations to go to the East Kingdom, we just haven't decided for what yet.
Merchants are welcome to sell their wares, and should contact our Merchant coordinator, Lady Elspeth ( Sarah Lambert, 610-791-0141) in advance. There is room for merchants both indoors and out. For those outdoors, you may camp with your wares, or use a picnic table.
In addition to all the martial activities, there will be scheduled
children's activities, swimming, (please note, swimming is at your own
risk, there is NO LIFEGUARD - all minors MUST be accompanied by an adult
while in the pool area), and did we mention the merchants?
The Site will open at 4pm on Friday and closes at 3pm on Sunday. The site
offers no handicap access, is wet (well, there are two tended bars on site
open from noon to 4:00am), grills are allowed, but no ground fires. We will
have a bardic fire on Saturday night. Camping is encouraged, however, for
those that prefer there is a hotel on the site available for an extra per
night charge. These rooms are available on a first come & paid / first
serve basis.
The cost for this weekend is:
From PA Turnpike, NE Extension, take exit 34 (Mahoning Valley)
to Rt 209 South, towards Jim Thorpe. At 2nd light (Caruso's Restaurant),
209 South makes a Right turn. From this light, continue for 2.1 miles
(ignore the first "Ukrainian Homestead" sign) and make a Left turn at the
sign for "Flagstaff." (The sign is on the left side of the road) Follow
this road (Beaver Dr.) for 1.7 miles, Ukrainian Homestead will be on your
Left.
